Memory Quilts
Ancestral Family Photos on Matboard

Memory Quilts is an exploration of ancestry, nostalgia, and the enduring legacy of the women who came before me. Using photographs from my grandmother's and mother's childhoods, I have cut and rearranged these images to form quilt squares, each one a reflection of the designs of six quilts made by my grandmother and great-grandmother. The original quilts, which are scattered across the country in the hands of different family members, serve as both a tribute and a bridge between generations. By merging family photos with these carefully crafted quilt designs, the work evokes a sense of connection to the past and honors the preservation of ancestral roots. The piece reflects not only the intimate histories of those who shaped me, but also the broader, interwoven tapestry of family, memory, and tradition.
